Woke up to freezing temperatures, gusty wind and rain this morning. Only 6 degrees when we finally ventured out at round 11 - we decided to stick to the subways today - not a day for sightseeing by bus - headed downtown to the 9/11 Memorial Site. Realised we should have chosen something indoors as we literally froze walking round the site. The security is the strictest we have ever come across which seems quite absurd and over the top as it is an outdoor memorial area of concrete and water.
We then raced back to the subway to check out Penn Station where we will be leaving for Washington next week. Always like to check things out without our bags first - sometimes it can make it easier on the day. Across the road was Macys, the world's largest store apparently. Obviously the building is extremely old with antiquated lifts and elevators - which run oh soooo slow. Did manage to look at their rather extensive ladies shoe department - the size of the entire Aspley Hypermarket - where does a girl start?

It is lovely walking round our part of town heading off a couple of blocks or two to the supermarket and deli. There are no huge supermarkets, not where we are anyway.

Venturing out into the freezing cold we headed to Broadway on Times Square for The Lion King and it was well worth the effort. Excellent seats again in a packed theatre. The play was wonderful - the sets and costumes were amazing - never seen anything like it. The rain had stopped so that made it for an easier walk to subway and home

I broke a tooth over dinner so I will be visiting a dentist tomorrow - which is an attraction not on my list. Fine weather and much warmer weather is forecast tomorrow so that will make things more pleasant.
It looks soooo cold over there! Just think though its going to be even colder in Iceland...pack on the Winter woolies!! Bad luck about the broken tooth..I did the same on my holiday chewing a Fantale!Love all the photos and brings back memories...have fun Ann !
