A relaxing day of sightseeing to rest our tired feet after yesterday's hours of walking. We took the Circle Line cruise to disciver Manhattan - just sitting back and watching the city pass by - very enjoyable. 121 sights listed in the brochure for the 3hr cruise incl Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge, UN Headquarters and many more.
26 degrees here again today but alas the warm weather is coming to an abrupt end - tomorrow's forecast is 14 and Friday is down to 10. We will need our jackets after all.

Made our way downtown and across to Brooklyn to meet up with Laura and Marie - we met them in a safari lodge last year in Namibia - it was at their prompting that we made the detour to NY on our way to Europe. Laura has a beautiful 160 yr old brownstone - she lives downstairs and rents the upstairs apartment. We literally walked across the road to this fabulous little Italian restaurant for dinner - food was wonderful. Had a great night and made our way back to Central Park round 1.30am. Plan to do something with them over the weekend.Ann
Your blogs are coming through on garyann and not anngary...took awhile to figure this out.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear that you had a good flight albeit little to no sleep. Dubai looks amazing even in the dust storm...fancy getting rain on a holiday!!! Seriously, hope the weather is good to you...makes such a difference on a holiday. How is Gary's foot holding up with all the walking? Shops, shops and more shops...certainly a huge mall. High Tea looked delicious...what a treat! Now in NY...enjoy this amazing city and all it has to offer. You have seen sooo much already and it is only the first week...fantastic photos!! Great you enjoyed Wicked...I am sure you will really enjoy The Lion King. Would have been good to catch up with Laura and Marie. Enjoy rest of time in NY...take care. We are enjoying following your adventures. Love from Gary and Lyndal
Glad we have seen Dubai but it is not somewhere we would go again - maybe for high tea but that's all. Our first couple of days in NY were summer but now we are so so cold - raining amd miserable at the moment and only 6 degrees - are wearing our warm jackets at last. Gary's foot - whatg foot - has been no problem at all - had forgotten about it to tell the truth. Went to Macy's - too big with very slow access by antiquated lifts and elevators - got tired of waiting so left. Have come back to the apartment early to keep warm. Looking forward to Broadway again tonight but not looking forward to venturing out into the cold and rain.
DeleteSorry about the blog mixup. I find writing the blog fun, but with the long days we have been having it is sometimes difficult to find the time - all I want to do is collapse into bed and in the morning we are keen to get on the road again.
So quiet where we are off Central Park - very little traffic noise - a very expensive and elite part of town I should think. We plan to do Central Park next Tuesday when our metro card runs out.
Talk soon
