Walked round the old the old town one more time before our flight late this afternoon to Helsinki. Everyone was out and about on a beautiful Sunday morning and we came across a concert in a small square - lots of singing and music and dancing. On our way back to our hotel we took a wrong turn and ended up outside the palace in time to see the changing of the guard. So sad to be leaving beautiful Stockholm - have really enjoyed our short stay here.
Arrived in Helsinki early evening - not too impressed with the city on the drive from the airport - looking very much like an eastern block country - very Russian - dark, drab and old buildings. Our hotel was far better inside than it looked on the outside - very modern really. We had a devil of a job finding somewhere to eat - very little is opened on a Sunday and what little there is closes round 8 or 9 at the latest. We started looking just after 9 - absolutely nothing within a reasonable distance of the hotel. Not the first time this trip we have had to settle for fruit, coffee and biscuits. Let's hope once we see more of Helsinki tomorrow our initial impressions are proved wrong.
