Lovely sunny morning in Balestrand with a few showers forecast so we headed off for a walk into town and along the fjord after breakfast. Lovely to wake up with a such a fabulous view - we enjoyed Flam but this is something else. Hardly call it a town - we walked probably 1k and all we came across was the postman in her little red van, a truck dumping rocks in the fjord and a couple of cars on the road. Found the 2 shops in town - the Art shop and the local supermarket - if you could call it that. But what the supermarket lacked in size it certainly made up for in location. Apparently you couldn't move here last weekend - they had their annual jazz festival and the place was packed. Hard to believe really. The rain never came although a few dark clouds hovered overhead. It is now 9.40pm and the sun is still glistening on the snow on the mountains - a truly lovely sight.

Norway is known for its traditional wooden houses |

Not your average supermarket carpark view |
Leave Balestrand for Bergen on the 5pm ferry tomorrow - Bergen is supposed to be the loveliest city in Norway.
Farvel
