Sunday - our day of rest

Firstly I hope all the Mothers at home reading my blog had a wonderful Mothers Day - I certainly did in this beautiful part of the world - I had emails from my boys Stuart and Elliot and spoke to Katherine and Tim on Skype which was wonderful. Gary and I both phoned our Mums.

A very welcome rest day today and what a beautiful spot in which to do nothing but just soak up the view, the quiet and the relaxed atmosphere. We walked round the town before lunch - this meant literally walking out of the hotel and down to the railway station (100 metres away) - this is town - it consists of the pier, a restaurant, two cafes,a bank, a tourist information and a couple of extensive (and expensive) souvenir shops. Certainly didn't need our GPS to make our way back to the hotel. Bought some postcards and wrote them sitting out in the sunshine looking at the boats coming and going. There was a ship in port today, Discovery, and we were told that the MSC Musica, which we saw in Oslo, will be in port tomorrow. Should be quite a site to see such a huge ship coming into this tiny fjord.

A very relaxed day indeed and we dined again in the hotel restaurant - our dinners were included in our stay - a set menu - no choice - but the food has been superb. Scallops tonight followed by deer - very tender. We were not expecting meals of such quality when it was an all inclusive rate.

An easy day again tomorrow before we catch our ferry to Balestrand in the afternoon - no doubt some more wonderful scenery.

A large ship in port - it left just before dinner - but
this will be dwarfed by the MSC Musica when
it arrives tomorrow

View of the town from dinner - you can see how far
(or more to the point, how little) we walked today

Dessert was delicious - pear and chocolate
