Norway as we pictured it would be

An early start this morning for our train journey - 5 hours to Mydral - passing through expansive forests, secluded lakes and waterfalls. At one of the stops - Finse - it was even snowing lightly. We changed trains and continued on to Flam through the wild Flam valley. On the 20km long train ride the view constantly changed - rivers cutting through deep ravines, waterfalls, snow capped mountains and green pastures at the bottom of the valley. The train made frequent photographic stops along the way. Although the morning started out nice and sunny, it became quite overcast and the day progressed.

Our hotel is at the end of the rail line/ferry terminal - literally 100 metre walk with a beautiful view of the fjord from our room. Our 2 night stay in Flam will give us a welcome rest - we have had busy 5/6 weeks. Flam is such a tiny village it will not take long to stroll around tomorrow. We have just returned from a wonderful dinner in the hotel to enjoy the view from our room. This is a truly beautiful part of the world.
