Spent the morning finding a dentist opened on a Saturday - found one just a block away - very handy indeed. Two hours and $400 later my broken tooth was perfect again. Still cold outside but the gusty wind and rain has gone and the sun was trying hard to sneak through the clouds.
This afternoon we thought we would catch a bus and travel to the top of Manhattan along the very lovely Riverside Drive adjacent the Hudson River - the scheduled bus/buses never arrived but the buses going downtown were so we walked across the road and ended up at the southern tip of Manhattan - Battery Park and the Wall Street area. I thought Saturday would be quiet on the streets - how naive that was - the bus took forever in the gridlock that was NY on a weekend - everyone and I mean everyone was out and about. NY is so big, each of its 5 boroughs has double the population of Brisbane. A great place to visit but would never want to live here.
Walked round the financial district - Gary wanted to see the Charging Bull -a large bronze statue - a Wall Street icon. Took the bus and another hour to get back home to Central Park. The sun was bursting through the clouds at times today which was really nice - had to put my sunnies on this afternoon.

Busy streets on a Saturday
Have found this wonderful supermarket a couple of blocks away on Broadway which sells the most amazing food that we take back to the apartment. Today we had clam chowder, bbq chicken skewers, sweet and sour chicken, lovely roast potatoes, onions and carrots, and grilled asparagus spears - such a feast. A couple of days ago we had bbq pork ribs with baked potato and sour cream - delicious. I'm sure you would never need to cook if you lived in NY.
I suppose you have realised by now that I tend to write my blog in the mornings - I am usually too tired to write it at night after a busy day. So the date at the top is not the actual day's sightseeing - this is what we did the day before.
