Quiet last day in NY

A tad confusing as there are going to be 2 blogs on 16 April. Today is the first time I am writing the blog at night and not the following morning - we have to leave by 9 and I would have no time to write it.

A quiet last day today - just as well we had little planned - we had to go camera shopping. Our Camera had an intermittent fault since Dubai and was getting much worse. We came to B & H, the largest photo and video store in the United States - it is described as "Disneyland for photographers". It is owned by Herman Schreiber and many of the store's employees are  observant Jews. One of the biggest stores we have ever seen and so professionally run. Buying a camera was an assembly line process and our purchase was sent down two levels to the cashier by conveyor belt.

An enormous store - JB Hi fi pales into insignificance
Had a bite to eat in 9th Avenue and headed back home to read up on and test our new purchase - a Nikon this time. Walked up the road to Central Park and strolled through - saw a squirrel and was able to photograph it this time - very cute. The park is still very bare - would love to see it when the trees are green and all the flowers are out.

Walked back to our favourite deli to pick up our last dinner to bring back to the apartment - have really enjoyed our stay here - the apartment has been so central to both the subway and the bus and no shortage of delis and supermarkets - it even has a dentist or two.

Our time has flown by in NY - can't believe we are leaving tomorrow - but another city awaits and we are looking forward to our 3 nights in Washington - have saved our Museums for there - the Smithsonian.
