Arrived at JFK late afternoon after a very early start out of Dubai and another 14hr flight. Flight path took us right up north over the Arctic Circle and across Iceland. NY temps have risen sharply in the past week from under 10 degrees to the low 20s. Took about 1 hour to reach our apartment in Manhattan - not easy getting the bags up the 2 flights of stairs but we made it. Apartment is as advertised on the net which is always reassuring - very nice and just one block from Central Park.
We are being met tomorrow by a Big Apple Greeter - a NY local who enjoys showing visitors their city - it is free and takes between 4-5 hours so we should cover a lot of ground. Spoke to Bill on the phone when we arrived - very friendly and keen to meet us as are we to meet him- we should have a great tour. We are off to see Wicked on Broadway tomorrow night so another full day.

Pleased to hear you've arrived safe and sound albeit to me the long way round via Dubai!! It sounds a fascinating city to spend a day or two! High Tea looked delicious and exquisite surroundings . Pleased too that you have the Big Apple Greeter straight away since he can give you the lowdown on how to use the Subway system! You will enjoy Greenwich Village and the surrounds...you may even see Sarah Jessica!!Dont forget the Magnolia Bakery for a Cupcake !! Looking forward to the next instalment! Enjoy Manhattan and Central park!
ReplyDeleteI have heard from my friends on WWF that it has been unseasonably hot ...33 but at least there is no humidity! Cheers for now Annette
