Slow train to DC

Sadly leaving our home for the past 10 days - walked a block to Columbus Avenue to hail a cab to Penn Station - a slow trip in peak hour traffic - made it in plenty of time though. A slow trip to Washington - took us just on 5 hours, nearly 2 hours longer than scheduled. Our train was the Boston to Newport route.

All packed and ready to go

Passed by Philadelphia

Capitol Building  - home of Congress - round the corner
 from our hotel

Dinner at America's premier Irish Pub (or so they say)

Arrived mid afternoon to warmer weather than we have been used to -a nice 25 degrees -short 5 min walk from Union Station to our hotel in Capitol Hill - lovely and quiet and spacious after the hustle and bustle of the jungle of NY- think we are going to enjoy our time here. Walked round the area to familiarise ourselves and find somewhere for dinner - an Irish pub - The Dubliner - very busy, loud music and food was very good - very Irish.

Will go on the hop-on hop-off bus tomorrow and do all the touristy things.

Ann
