Dubrovnik - is there anywhere better to celebrate a birthday?......July 24

Woke up to another glorious day and sadly another year older - but there could be worse places to spend a birthday! The owners of the apartment came by at breakfast with a small gift - they had noticed my birth date on my passport - a very nice gesture. Another quiet day of r and r sitting on the balcony watching the comings and goings in the port below. The Costa Fascinosa cruise ship arrived at midday - 3000 passengers - saw them disembarking by tenders and local ferries and then all back again to leave by 5.30pm. Certainly not a great deal of time here. The crowds on the dock queueing to reboard was neverending - quite a military operation - very warm in mid afternoon heat. We watched the boat leave port - quite a site - it dwarfed the town as it sailed past.

Gary popped down to the local deli for lunch supplies - fresh bread, smoked salmon. We tend to try and go out once only into town to avoid the steps. The view is so lovely from our balcony we try to spend as much time as we can to soak it in. We will be on the bus tour next week so a bit of quiet time relaxing here is wonderful. We did venture into town once the visitors had left and had a lovely meal at a recommended restaurant - a very nice fillet steak cooked to perfection - have had very little meat since we left the motorhome. Yet another seafood starter - the mussels in garlic and white wine are tremendous and Gary can't seem to get enough marinated anchovies. We had intended going up in the cablecar but it was dark when we finished dinner so we will go up tomorrow and hopefully catch the sunset.

I am forever blogging!

So so big
