Murano glass

Finally found our restaurant last night although it took longer than the 10 minute walk it was supposed to - we obviously took many wrong turns - it was worth the wait - good spaghetti with clams and mussels. Took the vaporetto along the Grand Canal just on dark which was really lovely - very few people on the boat at that hour - very nice indeed.

Off to the island of Murano and a look at the glass blowing factories today. We were given a private water taxi ride out to the island with a quick tour of the factory and a guide through the retail shop - they of course hope you buy something but there is no pressure so we had a very enjoyable morning. Had we paid for a taxi ride to Murano, the fare starts at 60 euro. There were some exquisite pieces but at a starting price of 3000 euro I quickly changed my mind. Another warm day today so we headed back to our air conditioned haven to freshen up and will go out again this afternoon to tackle the crowds that is Venice at this time of year. But hey we're in Venice - what's not to love!!
