Lake Bled..........July 9

I had to make a quick dash to the pharmacy first thing this morning - Gary has come down with a most dreadful head cold and fevers. We just hope it doesn't spread through the rest of us. Once we arrived in Bled he went straight to bed in the hotel while the rest of us took in the beautiful lake and its surrounds. Poor baby - hope the meds kick in soon but usually these things have to run their course.

It was a day of mountains and lakes today - stunning scenery - we are very close to the Austrian border and we took the cable car to the top of Mt Vogel for magnificent views. It was then off to the beautiful alpine resort of Bled with a boat ride to the island in the middle of the lake. In winter the lake is used for ice skating - hard to believe looking at it now. I had only focused on Croatia on this tour and had given little thought at all to Slovenia but it has come as a very pleasant surprise - quaint towns and scenery comparable to that of Switzerland and neighbouring Austria.
