Wow........that's what I call a view

Saw everyone at breakfast to say our final goodbyes - we have become close over the past couple of weeks, especially those of us in the original 6. Sue and Colin are still urging us to come visit them in Tassie next year so we will see. Left before lunch by taxi for our apartment above the old town. The balcony is nearly as large as the apartment and the view is amazing - awesome - whatever the superlative is. The apartment is great and Zoran and Igor, the brothers who run the family business, are very friendly and helpful. Short walk to a local market for some supplies for lunch (not walking the 377 stairs into town and back again just for lunch). Gary had the binoculars out boat watching - the harbour is a non stop hive of activity with ferries and tender boats for the small cruise ships. Waited till the cool of the afternoon to walk the city walls which apparently are the best preserved anywhere in the world - stayed for dinner at a restaurant we visited earlier with the Peregrine group - mussels this time. Then the time of reckoning - the walk back up the hill - a couple of rest stops and I made it to tell the story. By the time we reached our balcony and looked at the view at night the steps were a distant memory - until tomorrow anyway.

The old town from our balcony

Just a small section of the 377 steps
The old town -a different sight at night

Small cruise ship we can see from our
room - quite a picture at night
