Lokrum Island & Dubrovnik

We took the local ferry to the island of Lokrum a short 15 minute boat ride away for a walk through its botanical gardens to see its collection of exotic plants - and peacocks. We also visited the ruins of a Benedictine monastery - a shame really that it has been so neglected. We arrived back in Dubrovnik for a late lunch and a walk round town  - passed the markets and bought some local delicacies - sugar coated almonds and candied orange peel....yummmm  - before heading back to the hotel - a cook's tour on the No. 6 bus - we saw a lot more of the city - fabulous. Will be back to the market tomorrow to pick up some fresh fruit - the stone fruit here is so good - esp peaches and nectarines. We had a much earlier dinner tonight as 2 of our group were flying out tonight and this was our farewell meal. Dined in a restaurant in the old town right on the waterfront and sadly said our goodbyes. Stella and our driver Andrew were also leaving us to drive back to Split tonight for another job tomorrow - such is the busy life of a tour guide. Stella has been a wonderful guide and we will remember fondly many of her favourite phrases and sayings. Anna is leaving at an ungodly hour in the morning so we said our goodbyes promising to email - she is such a lovely girl. We will see everyone else at brekky in the morning before we head off to our apartment 300 steps above the old town.......agh! The view is supposed to be amazing - it would want to be after that trek!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure who enjoyed this more - kitty or me
